Stoic Morning
Rise and shine, sleepyhead! It's already 7 am. What is your agenda for today? You're still in quarantine. You've forced yourself to work from home.
Even before quarantine, we do have our daily routine. It depends if you have school, work, or doctor's appointment. There is a question should every person should ask themselves every day: Will be my day awesome.
The awareness of schedule has started in school. Teachers gave students a schedule that it needs to follow, whether it is long-term or short-term. Students manage to organize their large projects (i.e. research term, model, or portfolio) into small tasks, just to get into their process.
As for independent scheduling, young adults must manage their habits for their daily routine. They must avoid procrastination as expect for the next day. Sometimes, they seek inspiration from successful influencers, models, and entrepreneurs/billionaires by searching "A Day In a Life of _______".
But first, what is Stoicism? Why do Millennials and Generation Z need it nowadays? Stoicism would define as "understanding emotions and having a conversation with your inner self, to grow yourself". People tend to read a passage by stoic philosophers, from a day-to-day basis. Most millennials are goal-setting, but they receive negative energy from their co-workers and their loved ones. It is hurtful as it sounds. They usually watch a motivational video before getting their tasks done, so they would get inspired and confident throughout the day. They have been through their self-esteem issues peer issues and family issues. The only thing to make a day better is to read and reflect on stoic passages.
Stoicism helps their soul and mentality from distractions and procrastination. Professionals need stable their emotions by watching Korean drama clips or looking at hilarious internet content, though it also consumes their work hours.
Most millennials are easily tired from 9-5 jobs, including commute hours. They need their sleep at 6 hours, but it is shorthanded during work hours. We are distracted…, just to reminiscing their good times. Most of our daily life basis, we drained mentally after work, we always head home. Not even tempting to go "night's out".
Whatever your daily habits or lifestyle you have, you must have stoicism in a half-aura with your life. To achieve anything, meditate and reflect on your purpose. It's okay to tempt anything to make you happy, but don't let distractions and negativity could lead to a horrible future.
